Last Friday, I tagged along with London Village Music to the Wireless Festival as Bluey Robinson was playing the Pepsi Max stage. I had never been backstage anywhere before and in order to live out my rockstar wife dream (lets face it, I’m the wrong side of 29 to be any kind of Penny Lane) I gleefully accepted.
Everyone went wild when Bluey sang a cover of Bob Marley’s Could You Be Loved. The tent was a sea of teenage girls belting out if they too could be loved.
I was running around like a loon trying to find a decent spot to take a good photo- my little iPhone and Lumix camera couldn’t keep up with the pros and their Canons. But did anyone get a shot of Bluey mid air? No. But I did.
Bluey ended the half hour set with Showgirl and judging by the screams and the ringing in my ears, it was a crowd favourite.
Making our way to the guest area afterwards, there were plenty of girls asking for photos with Bluey. But then a group of ripped, bare chested (Top Gun volleyball scene style) guys wearing nothing but their Daisy Dukes came up to Bluey and asked for their photo and congratulated him on a good performance. Definitely the best WTF moment of the day.
The guest area was hosted by Cirque Le Soir- they brought along their circus themed acts, barbecue and Pimms.
Thanks Bluey for the amazeballs music, Cirque for the burgers and London Village for the hospitality.
Tomorrow, I round up Wireless: Day 2
Or tweet him some love.
