This weather is bananas. B-a-n-a-n-a-s! Last week, I was melting in front of my fan both at work and at home, kicking off the thin bed sheet every night because even that was too hot to sleep under. Now, I sit here nursing a hot cup of tea with a jacket on to ward off the chill. Britain and it’s bonkers weather. As we creep into the weekend, I realise that next week is July which means the annual make the most of your summer FOMO is about to set in. There is a dinner at Sushi Samba, a visit from Ismay, and a warehouse sale from Rockett St George creeping up on my radar and I still feel like I need to do all the things before we say goodbye to the sun. FOMO aside, let’s head downwards to those five little boxes below…
After spending a lot of time in my Saltwaters, trekking around South East Asia, my feet were looking puh-retty grody. If my mum saw them, she’d call them ‘kaki ayam’ which means chicken feet- because they’re cracked, dry and scaly. And gross. I finally had an excuse to try the famous Baby Foot peel. There I was, on the hottest day of the year, with my feet wrapped in gel booties for an hour. Nearly a week after, my feet began to do their best snake skin impression. Remember when you were a kid and you’d paint glue on your hand to peel off? Baby foot peel is just like that. It doesn’t hurt at all. The key is to soak your feet before and everyday during the process. My feet are kaki ayam no more but soft, little twinkle toes. I got mine from Amazon here.
I discovered the best bra I’ve ever worn by accident when in Hong Kong. It was so humid that by the end of the second day, we went to Uniqlo to buy clean t shirts. I picked up their new wireless bra style and it was a life changer. No wires poking into you, no discreet wiggles to get back in there and no droopy straps driving you mad. It’s so comfortable. For everyday use, this has been such a game changer. I bought three more and will be tossing my old ones away! You can find them here on the Uniqlo website.
I think we can all agree that our love for Instagram is coming to a shuddering halt. We are fed up with ever changing algorithms and the near impossible task of growth. So, I have given Instagram pods a thought recently. A pod is when a group of you exchange likes and comments – whipping up engagement with each other- to encourage your account to be more visible. Or something like that. Finding an Insta pod to join has been hard work- a bit like ‘you can’t sit with us’ at times- but I *think* I’ve found one willing to let me join. I’ll give it a go!
Last year, at the start of our renovation I found myself about to participate in a property show from a certain famous duo on telly. Photos and emails were exchanged, Skype interviews were made, and a date set for the first day of filming. And then, it got postponed. And then cancelled. True story bro! Anyway, now that the dust has settled, I have been toying with the idea of hosting a blogger get-together garden party over the summer. I’d really like to, but I think it’s a case of ahh-will-anyone-want-to-come and also, getting anything in the diary over summer, for Londoners, is a nightmare. I’m about 80% certain. Watch this space.
Last Autumn, I discovered Bath and Body Works candles. We don’t have it in the UK, so of course, because I can’t easily get them, it becomes an obsessive mission when I want a specific scent. In this Summer’s collection, is a fragrance called Tea and Lemon and it is amazing. It smells so fresh and clean, and well…pretty much like a jug of sweet ice tea. Thanks to eBay, I’ve stocked up on a few. It smells like something from a much more expensive brand and I can’t CAPS LOCK enough how I love it. A good eBay seller to purchase from is this dudey right here.
So, lunch time calls! It feels like a chicken soup kind of day to ward off the chill.
(Lunch time is the best part of the day- what are you having? my stomach needs to know)
