Hold on a sec, let me grab MY JUMPER. What is going on? Why am I pulling out my knitted jumpers and dusting off my boots from the back of the cupboard? On the way home last night, my teeth were chattering from the cold. Cold drops of rain plonked into my shoes, a feeling I expect in the throes of November rain (heh) but not August. This is Augtober. I suddenly feel the need to watch back to back episodes of the Gilmore Girls and to stick a shepherds pie in the oven. Okay, ok, calm- I’ve done the incredibly British thing of moaning about the weather and was just about to apologise. I better find a queue to join seeing as things are starting to really get out of hand. Life lately has involved a lot of laptop time…
I’m working on a new website- not a blogging one, but blogging related. I’ve got a few wonderful blogging volunteers and with some luck, I’ll be able to fill up the new website with some content! Errr…sorry for the vagueness. I am very excited, but also I have forgotten how all consuming it is when you are trying to build a website into the version you’ve pictured inside your head.
It’s been an idea I’ve had in mind for a long time, but it was always just a bit of a pipe dream- there was just too much going on in my day to day to really put any thought into it. But now…now seems like a good time.
I’ve been putting up what-I-wear-to-work outfits on my Insta Stories. This was Wednesdays; black t shirt and jeans made smarter with my favourite blazer, with new shoes I was saving for Autumn, but hey being Augtober and all I decided to pull them on early. To be honest, throwing this blazer on top of any outfit makes me feel and look a lot more together than I actually am.
I can’t tell you what a risky little game it is setting up the self timer on my phone and being prepared to jump a mile if anyone suddenly walked in. Reflexes of a cat, I tell you.
We had a fancy pants dinner at Nobu Shoreditch last night (I’ve got a separate post on that coming up shortly) and it was nice. Pricey, but nice. The kind of place you go to for special reasons or to impress clients, but not to nip into because you can’t be bothered to cook. Unless you’re Roman Abramovich or something. Maybe only then.
But, overall, it was a good treat. Delicious sashimi. Attentive service (every person who walks in is greeted by a chorus of “irasshaimase” ) and in the Shoreditch location at least, minimally cool decor (with fab terrazzo tiles I might add, hoowee) I felt cool. I rarely feel cool.
I’ve been tinkering with my new camera recently…and I am really loving the results! It’s strange getting used to a new weight in my hands, but I am so in love with it. I chose the Silver and tan leather hardware in the end- it’s got bluetooth and wifi to connect to my phone (although I haven’t set that up yet) and the flippy screen is pretty handy for different angles.
I was so sad when my old one was stolen (we had many adventures together) but this new one…this new one, I love (My recent posts have all been taken with the Canon 200D, fyi)
5 second weirdness annnnnd go!….
I have a permanent brace on my bottom teeth to keep them straight. I am forever picking out carrot from it.
I got my first grey hair aged 21. Thanks for that genetic hand me down, Dad!
I snore like a roaring sea monster from the deepest darkest ocean and waking up to orange, foamy ear plugs in bed is a regular occurrence.
My hands have to be clean, all the time. Antibac and wet wipes are my best pals.
I have no definite plans for this weekend…or even for this following week.
“I would say I’m a fly by the seat of your pants kind of gal, you know, moment to moment…” NAME THAT FILM.
But to be honest, I like that there’s nothing on my calendar. I can’t always be full on, as I learnt the hard way, that too much will burn me out and my old friends Anxiety and Panic Attack will return. Maybe that’s a post for another day, but keeping it slow and steady since my therapy sessions last year has made a huge difference for me. I think back to my old pace of life and I just. Can’t. I can never be that person again.
And with that in mind, I need to get cracking on with my other website!
