And just like that, at long long last, Big Ben chimed it’s bell and London- and the rest of the world- sighed in relief. At least I did. Has there has ever been a feeling of ‘just turn the damn page already’ than those 5 little minutes leading to midnight? And then, as the bell finally chimed, I watched as the fireworks lit up along the River Thames on my TV screen. It began with Prince’s “dearly beloved..” and I’m not sure any start of a new year can be better than a line from the Purple one.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I would continue to blog into 2017. The year before had been full on and all my energy was sapped into getting our home sorted and ready. Now that it’s mostly done, I feel much more energised and enthusiastic for this blog again. It feels good, like slipping on your favourite pyjamas.

Full disclosure- how strange did it feel putting on jeans and boots and proper tops again after a long festive break in your baggiest and saggiest? My waist was in shock when I yanked on the denim this morning! I rang in the New Year not in a sparkling dress, but in pair of paint stained jersey joggers and it was flipping lovely.

I don’t really have anything especially important or significant to say, apart from Hello- it’s nice to be here again. How did you ring in your New Year?

Look forward to seeing what 2017 brings for you and your blog! I rang the New Year in leaving work! We literally got out as it hit midnight, and even though I was slightly annoyed I was working then, it was nice to just stand there, seeing fireworks go off in various directions.
